How does a blanket work in printing?
The offset blanket is a covering for the blanket cylinder (the intermediate cylinder) in each printing unit. Its primary function is to receive the inked image from the printing plate and then transfer, or "offset," it onto the paper. This indirect method produces a sharper, smoother print on a wide variety of materials, including rough, heavy stocks and other media. This lithographic process is the foundation of most modern offset presses.
