CTP Aluminum Printing Plate Price Gets Higher
In 2026, the market for aluminum CTP (Computer-to-Plate) plates has been impacted by global supply chain constraints and rising production costs, exhibiting a distinct upward trend in pricing.
Global Wave of Price Hikes:
Major plate manufacturers have successively announced price increases. ECO3 (formerly Agfa’s offset printing division) announced a global price adjustment in early 2026—amounting to a double-digit percentage increase—citing the irreversible structural rise in production costs. Similarly, Fujifilm announced a global double-digit price hike, driven by the persistent escalation of raw material, logistics, and labor costs.
Pressure from Aluminum Price Volatility:
Aluminum accounts for over 65% of the total cost of CTP plates. Due to energy market shocks stemming from the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, aluminum prices briefly surged past $3,300 per ton in early 2026, reaching a four-year high. Although prices have fluctuated recently, domestic producers in the U.S. market face heightened "tax-inclusive" pricing pressures due to a 50% tariff imposed on imported aluminum.
